Troop Ties

Troop 897 believes in the power of mentoring and the effect that mentoring can have on a student's academic, social, and professional success. We have spent 7-8 years helping Scouts in Troop 897 develop into honorable young men who live by the Scout Oath and Law. That should not end when they “Age Out”. The Troop Ties Mentorship Program provides a unique and valuable opportunity for Scouts to maintain contact with the troop and to gain skills, knowledge, and expertise from someone with first-hand knowledge. Mentors are adults with connections to the troop, fellow Scouts who’ve gone through the program and are in college or are graduates who are successful and accomplished, and who have offered to volunteer their time and talents to mentor our Scouts.
The mission of the Troop Ties Mentoring Program is to provide students and graduates with a real-world opportunity to explore and discover professional goals while guided by successful and talented Adult Scouts, Scouters or those who are part of the Troop 897 family. Interactions will promote engagement, college visitation and selection, career and professional development, and a successful transition from backpack to briefcase.
